PAT KAVADAS SCHOLARSHIP WINNER

 

Carissa Patrice Best

Firebaugh High School

 

Carissa was named the 2009 Pat Kavadas Scholarship for her participation on the Fresno Vines AAU Basketball Team and her many accomplishments during high school: Scholar-Athlete of the Year, valedictorian, AP English Student of the Year, and a Gold medalist in Academic Decathlon.

 

As an athlete she was All-League in VB, BB, and Track. West Sierra League MVP in VB and BB. Team MVP in VB, BB and Track.

 

She was Firebaugh Student Body President, active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Interact president, and an FFA Greenhand.

 

In the spirit of Pat Kavadas, she volunteered at Kid’s Day, blood drives, community clean up, Sunday school teacher, Senior Center, Walk-A-Thon, Rotary haunted house, golf tournament and rodeo.
